Learn to Skydive (TAF or AFF)

Skydive Queensland has been introducing people to the thrills of Skydiving for over 15 years and offers a level of instruction second to none. We have watched our students become safe & skilful skydivers in all areas of this sport including freefall control & manoeuvres, parachute handling & landing, we have seen them become Freefall cameramen and women, achieve Instructor ratings and watched others go on to compete in skydiving events at National and International level. It all starts with taking the plunge and enrolling in a Skydiving Course at Kooralbyn!

There are three ways to complete your first Skydive –

1. Introductory Tandem Skydive requiring just 10 mins training

2. TAF (Tandem Assisted Freefall) – After completion of a full day course (FJC), covering all aspects of the necessary theory and practical training – your stage One skydive is done as a Tandem - offering many invaluable advantages. Your Instructor is with you throughout the jump - from the aircraft exit through freefall, under the parachute and of course the landing. This level of hands on tuition is invaluable and you will still complete all the freefall manoeuvres, monitor your height and pull your own ripcord, and then steer the parachute back to the landing area. Your Instructor is able to give you a hands on lesson on how to handle your parachute, wind directions and wind speed and the role they play, where to locate the DZ, how to set up for a safe landing approach and of course how to land safely.

We find that students who do TAF for their first jump are often more confident and perform better on their stage 2 and subsequent skydives.

3. AFF (Accelerated Freefall) - Your first Skydive consists of a full day course (FJC), covering all aspects of the necessary theory and practical training. You will complete your first solo skydive accompanied in freefall by two Instructors – unbelievable! You will wear your own parachute, read your own altimeter to monitor your height, complete your freefall checks that you have learnt and pull the ripcord to open your parachute with the security of experienced Skydive Instructors close by. You will then fly back to land with the aid of radio and ground directions. Totally indescribable!!!
